The staff, Governing Body and pupils of Altmore Infant School would welcome you applying for a place at our school.  To do this you must follow the correct process for your child’s age as detailed below.

We are a school maintained by London Borough of Newham which means they are the admission authority for this school.

All applications for this school must be made through London Borough of Newham’s Pupil Services, not this school.

Reception Admission for September 2021 entry

  • For all children born from 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 inclusive, their parents/carers will need to apply for a reception class place in an infant or primary school for September 2021 entry.

  • National closing date for on time Reception applications: 15th January 2021
  • National offer date for on time Reception applications 16th April 2021
  • All reception 2021 applications must be made through the family’s home local authority.​
  • For children living in Newham families must apply via London Borough of Newham. 
  • For children living outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.
  • Remember, parents/carers must apply for a reception place in this school, even if the child:                                                                                                                          - Attends our nursery                                                                                                 OR                                                                                                                                    - Has a brother or sister attending this school.
  • Before submitting a reception application we strongly recommend all families read the autumn 2020 edition of the local authorities ‘Starting Primary School’ guide and find out information about the school you are interested in.

Infant to Junior School transition for September 2021 entry

  • Children born from 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 who attend an Infant school, will need to apply a Year 3 Junior place in an Infant or Primary School for September 2021.  This does not apply to children who attend a Primary School unless their parent/carer wants to change their child’s school for September 2021.

In Year admissions into primary school (aka mid-term and mid phase)

  • If a family arrives in Newham during the school year 2020/2021 and their child needs a school place they must complete an In Year form naming their preferred schools.

  • School places are usually offered within 10 days. 
  • The place offered may not be at the school the family prefers as that school may not have a suitable place available.

Moving from primary to secondary school in September 2021

Year 7 Admission for September 2021

  • For all children born from 1st September 2009 and 31st August 2010 inclusive, their parents/carers will need to apply for Year 7 secondary school place for September 2020, unless the child is on roll at an All Through school (Chobham Academy, Langdon Academy or School 21) as they will automatically move into Year 7 unless they would prefer  
  • All year 7 applications for September 2021 must be made through the family’s home local authority.​
  • National closing date for on time Year 7 applications: 31st October 2020
  • National offer date for on time Year 7 applications 1st March 2021
  • For children living in Newham families must apply via London Borough of Newham. 
  • For children who live outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.
  • Before submitting a Year 7 application we strongly recommend all families read the autumn 2020 edition of the local authorities ‘Starting Secondary School’ guide and find out information about the school you are interested in.  If possible look at their virtual tours.
  • Remember, families must apply for a place, even if their child:                                   - Has a brother or sister attending the school                                                             - Lives in the schools priority area (for Sarah Bonnell only)                                         - Attends a link school (for Stratford School Academy only)

Nursery Admissions

  • We are pleased to accept children's names for our nursery waiting list when they are two and half years old.
  • We offer a morning or afternoon session and try our best to accommodate parents’ requests.
  • You are welcome to register your child in the Children’s Centre    

Please bring your:

  • Your most recent Council Tax Bill or if not available, your Tenancy Agreement or Rent Book
  • Utility Bill, (Gas, Electric, Water, Landline phone)
  • Your child(rens) Birth Certificate or Passport showing their Date of Birth and Full Name.
