Altmore Infant School

London’s Children’s Book Project

In October 2019, Altmore and Lathom Schools Federation were fortunate enough to have successfully been accepted to receive books from a charity called ‘London Children’s Book Project.’  The London Children’s Book Project works with targeted practitioners in nurseries and schools to redistribute books to children across London. They work alongside schools and organisations whose communities may benefit from access to free books and support teachers to plan the most creative and enjoyable gifting to their children.

The London Children’s Book Project works with:

  • Primary schools
  • Nursery schools and children centres
  • Prisons
  • Women’s groups
  • Food banks
  • Anyone that works with children

Our federation was fortunate enough to be gifted 1800 books which were either new or ‘gently’ used as well as 100 hard paged baby books for our children centre and Nursery.  30% of the 1800 books we received were picture books – allowing children of all ages to access them.  Our children loved their visit to the book hut and were very proud owners of a book to take home to keep.
