PE at Altmore
At Altmore, we believe that PE is a crucial part of our children’s education and physical development. PE is taught in accordance with the National Curriculum requirements and expectations in each year group. Lessons are taught and led by our Coach, Coach Rich, and class teachers support and team teach alogn with the coach. PE lessons provide children with opportunities to become physically confident, supporting their health and fitness.
Our Aims are:
- To develop children’s fundamental movement skills
- To extend their agility, balance and coordination, individually and with others
- To be able to engage in competitive and co-operative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations.
All children have the opportunity to take part in PE lessons weekly where they follow year group specific planning.
In addition to PE lessons at Altmore, children have the opportunity to take part in extra -curricular ‘Gifted and Talented’ and ‘Change4Life’ sessions where they take part in a range of fitness activities and team games. This year, due to COVID19 children have taken part in ‘virtual tournaments’ against other schools in Newham. We are proud to say we have won many of these tournaments.
