World Book Day 2021
THANK YOU to all the children who sent in a photo of themselves holding their favourite book to contribute towards a World Book Day video that the charity 'London Children's Book Project' were making.
At Altmore, I proudly received 142 photos from children in our school and along with 46 other schools across London the video has now been made.
HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY EVERY ONE.
Here is the video - can you find yourself?
This year World Book Day was celebrated remotely. As World Book Day is celebrated a week before children return to school, we have decided to use this opportunity to focus on children’s wellbeing (linked to COVID-19) as well as their worries and anxieties about returning to school but also living through a pandemic and the effects this might have had on individual children.
The following books will be used for World Book Day. Both books are linked to children’s feelings and how to deal with worries and anxieties. Both texts have a focus on encouraging children to speak about their worries and how sharing their worries will help them deal with them. Through reading these stories, teachers will focus on asking children to share their worries about the pandemic but also on returning to school the following week and what anxieties they might have about this.
